Grant yourself permission to feel, heal, and exist authentically without shame

Welcome! I’m Kari (she/her), LMFT and owner of Lofn Therapy. I know what it's like to struggle in relationships — to feel worried, sad, and not always in sync with your partner. I know what it's like to wonder if you're screwing up your kids. What it's like to feel overwhelmed, like nothing you do is ever enough. And I know what it's like to have things happen to you that are completely out of your control, leaving you to pick up the pieces.

I became a therapist because my own life has been shaped by support — through navigating relationships, losing loved ones, and experiencing things that left a lasting impact on how I function. I've felt the power of therapy firsthand, and my life is better because of it. I bring that life experience, along with my training, to pay forward the gifts therapy has given me.

My practice is welcoming of all backgrounds, LGBTQIA+ affirming, and culturally sensitive — I see clients ages 16 and up in person in Little Canada MN, and via Telehealth throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin. If what I offer feels like a good fit, I'd love to be part of your journey.

The How Behind the Help

A Holistic, Brain-Science-Rooted Approach to Real Change

What if the distress you're feeling isn't a sign something's wrong with you, but a sign you're ready to grow? We adapt to what happens to us in smart, protective ways — but over time, those same adaptations can start showing up as struggles in our relationships, bodies, and minds. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all model; instead, I adapt my approach to your specific needs, using a mix of trauma based modalities to help unhelpful patterns shift and new possibilities emerge.

Methods and Modalities

  • Self-Trust and Integrated Resilience (STAIR)

  • Accelerated Resolution Therapy

  • Pia Melody’s work on Developmental Trauma

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS)

  • Narrative Therapy

  • Family Systems

  • Relational Life Therapy

  • Somatic/Body Based Therapy

  • Trauma Focused

What is Acceleration Resolution Therapy?

Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART): A brief, evidence-based approach developed from EMDR that uses eye movements to help clients replace distressing mental images with more positive ones — often bringing relief in just a few sessions, without needing to verbally relive trauma in detail.

Key Findings From the Research:

  • Rapid Outcomes (average 3-4 sessions)

  • Reductions in PTSD symptoms

  • Alleviates depression, anxiety & grief alongside trauma relief

  • Sustained Effect

A look into the Process with Me

Before we schedule your intake session, we'll set up a short call — about 10 minutes — to see if we're a good fit for each other. You'll briefly share what's bringing you to therapy, and I'll let you know honestly whether I think I can help. We'll also cover logistics and answer any questions you have along the way.

01

Step One: Consult Call

Your first appointment is an intake session. In this session, I'll gather a sense of what you're hoping for and what's been troubling you. I'll ask a lot of questions about your past and present to get a full picture of what you've experienced before and what you're navigating now. This first appointment helps me get a clearer idea of how to best support you moving forward, and gives important context for what you're currently facing.

02

Step Two: Intake Session

We'll schedule consistent sessions so you can get the most out of the work you're putting in. Each time we meet, I'll check in on how things have been since we last talked and ask where you'd like to start. From there, we'll get curious about what isn't feeling okay, make space for whatever's coming up, and find ways to settle both body and mind.

Step Three: Dive into the Work

Values I Live By

Curiosity Over Judgment

I approach every session with curiosity, not judgment — because your patterns make sense, even the ones that no longer serve you.

You're the Expert

I trust that you know yourself better than anyone else. My role is to guide, not direct.

No Shame, Ever

Asking for support isn't weakness — it's one of the bravest things you can do, and there's zero shame in it here.

Whole-Person Care

Healing isn't one-size-fits-all, so I draw on body-based, talk, and brain-science-informed approaches to fit you.

01

Former Teacher

Before therapy, I spent years in the classroom as a teacher and then as an academic coach — navigating relationships is basically my superpower.

Laughter & Deep Talks

My idea of a good time is laughing, being a little silly, and having deep conversations — often all in the same hour.

Super Bowl Alum

I danced in the Super Bowl halftime show back in 1992 — yes, really.

Enthusiastic (Off-Key) Singer

I love singing out loud, even though I definitely don't have the voice for it.
